There has been such wonderful discussion of the belly balls as an effective
teaching tool on Lactnet. I picked up a set at ILCA and have found them to
be a wonderful visual that instantly explains to a mom why her breast do not
feel "full" and yet her baby can be happy after a feeding. I do have a risk
management concern about using belly balls in their current format as a
teaching tool. When used around family members there is the remote
possiblity of the LC dropping one of the marbles and a toddler sibling
picking up the marble and getting choked on it. The concept is wonderful
and I so appreciate Hollister making it available to LC's. I do urge
caution in their use!
