I
recently saw an endocrinologist, hoping that he might do some testing as I
wonder if all of this is hormonal. He suggested I wean the baby, stop
taking the dom and herbs immediately, get bloodwork in a month and come back
in six weeks.
I do not understand the rationale behind weaning and discontinuing meds and
herbs in order to do a check of hormone levels unless this doc doesn't know
the normal thresholds for a breastfeeding mother. How many other breastfeeding
mothers have weaned because of his "advice"??
I would suggest looking for another endocrinologist, one that is
breastfeeding friendly or bringing the info. the first one needs to do hormone levels
while still lactating.
