I would refer this mom back to her OB to rule out post-partum problems with
her blood pressure. It's not that uncommon, especially in a primip, to
either develop PIH (pregnancy-induced hypertension) or for it to linger
into the 1st week or so post-partum. I have worked with several moms over
the years who ended up being rehospitalized so that hypertension related to
the pregnancy could be brought under control. She also may still be
working on the fluid overload she received during her labor and delivery.
Again, not too uncommon for a mom to need to be rehospitalized on the
telemetry unit because her heart is doing weird things due to
labor/delivery fluid overload, especially if there is a previously
undiagnosed cardiac condition.
