I have never had this type of situation, and am wondering if anyone else
has. Mom called today, has a 6-month old child. Was happily nursing
until 5 months of age when her pregnant mother's supply dwindled. For
one month it has been a huge fight to get her to eat. She fights at the
breast, won't take a bottle, nor a cup. Mom's pediatrician has referred
her to me to try an SNS, but I am leary that this baby is way too smart
to accept the SNS. I'll try it, but I don't know.
Baby is now losing weight - how much, I'm not sure. Enough for the
pediatrician (who I have great respect for) to be concerned. Mom is
coming in tomorrow to see me. If anyone has any great tips, please
e-mail me at [log in to unmask]
Thanks!
Brenda Phipps, BS, IBCLC
