I would look at both pre-feed weights to determine how much he had
gained in 5 days, and 1.5oz is inadequate gain. I don't think you want
to look at post-feed weights because that's food in his stomach that he
hasn't digested and metabolized yet and will not result in a net gain
of equal value. It takes an average baby 18-22 ounces in 24 hours to
gain 1 ounce. I would be concerned. I also don't think 1.7 oz is enough
because he needs to catch up. How old is this baby?
