I think the person asking for evidence of why this is important is missing
the fact that "breastfeeding" is the norm for babies not bottle-feeding. So
for all babies; they have the opportunity to feed from different sides and
positions, have skin-to-skin contact with feedings, be touched and stoked along
with their own touching and stroking. There is really no one thing that can
be said about the importance of alternating sides with feeding, it is the
importance of what breastfeeding offers a baby and how to replicate that
whenever and as much as possible.
