the essential bf info is thus: initiate bf shortly after the birth, do not
separate mother/baby (aka really room-in), get help with position/latch from
a skilled helper.
other tidbits: select a true bf friendly pediatrician, one who will not
interrupt bf for common meds like analgesics, antibiotics; one who will not
interrrupt bf for maternal fever, nor for jaundice, one who will have mother
baby rooming in during phototherapy if baby needs this.
have a support person stay with you in hospital 24/7 so that you are not
unduly influenced by staff who want to keep baby in nursery, feed baby for
you, etc. you will have help with your care if you need it and with changing
baby etc. you can just rest and feed the baby.
