hi,
i used to work as a visiting nurse in a maternal and childhealth program in  
queens, a boro of nyc. i had lots of african american women who breastfed. i  
started to photograph the breastfeeding moms i worked with. you can view my

the areas i  worked were predominantly black areas, many moms breastfed. maybe 
because the  area was so culturally diverse, many moms were not born in the 
us, and had  better bf role models. they grew up seeing lots of women bf, so it 
was something  that was more normal for them.
