Here's an interesting tidbit on the new proposed law in Mass.
I particularly like the part about '.permitting the breastfeeding of
*children* in public' NOT just *babies*.
I REALLY like the part about the $300 fine for those depriving mothers of
their breastfeeding rights!!

Beacon Hill Roll Call

BREASTFEEDING (H 3358):The House gave initial approval to legislation
permitting breastfeeding of children in public. The measure gives
breastfeeding mothers all "accommodations, advantages, facilities and
privileges of all public conveyances, public amusements and places of public
accommodation, within the commonwealth, to which other persons are
entitled." It also exempts breastfeeding from laws prohibiting indecent
exposure and open and gross lewdness and imposes up to a $300 fine on anyone
who deprives a mother of this right. Supporters said that it is important to
put these traditional protections into state law so that there is no chance
that breastfeeding mothers are charged with a crime or denied their right to
breastfeed when necessary. Some opponents said that the law is unnecessary
because breastfeeding is not currently illegal and there are no reported
incidents of mothers being charged with a crime or being denied the right to
breastfeed. Others said that the bill goes too far and noted that they
objected to the fines imposed in the legislation.
