Obviously the person making this study has never been at a LLLI Conference!
It is gratifying to see the wide spectrum of social interaction among the
babies/children attending. It runs the gamut from the clingy, very
dependent to the very outgoing who only needs a peek now and then to be sure
mom is somewhere nearby. (Some of the latter are so sociable that I might
be a little concerned that they would approach not-so-friendly strangers too
willingly) In addition, I have observed with children I have seen over the
course of a few years that some of the clingiest early on turn into some of
the most independent later. Certainly, looking at just a snapshot at 6
months isn't really a valid study for the over-the-long-term psycho-social
development of the child.
