After my last reconstruction I had one area that was persistently red for over a month. This was a concern because it was my 3rd attempt after losing 2 previous ones to infection! The doc kept me on antibiotics as a precaution, stating he might not have done that except for my history. It did eventually go away and has been infection free for 2 years, although we never did figure out why the redness persisted so long. I don't remember, however, that the area was particularly warm, just red and slightly tender. I would hope this woman is keeping in contact with her surgeon to rule out any infection.
