Dear Sheryl,
I had a recent experience with use of toradol post section with a mom I saw
on a home visit. She'd been given toradol for 2 days in hospital and made to
pump and discard her milk. while her baby got formula. She said her OB was
fine with the toradol and breastfeeding but a nurse saw that she was on the drug
and breastfeeding and told her she couldn't breastfeed while on the med. I
showed her Hale's info, listed as an L2 ( also AAP approved) and she found it
upsetting and ironic that the percocet she was still on was an L3 and no one
cautioned her about its use. When I spoke with her ped who was local (she
delivered outside of area she lived) he made the comment that the temporary weaning
was ridiculous; here, here, I agree wholeheartedly.
I'd be interested, too, in hospital LC's experience with toradol and why the
panic with breastfeeding.
