Ellen, this mother does not need to stop lactating to get a mammogram. She
can pump just prior to a mammogram for her own comfort. In help of
diagnosing her issue, they could start with an ultrasound. She can also have a biopsy
of this lump and not wean.
I hope you can direct her to a more breastfeeding friendly surgeon.
