FYI:Notice from MLCA (Massachusetts Lactation Consultant Assoc)

International Lactation Exchange Project- 2005

MLCA is sponsoring a pilot lactation project this Feb that they hope will
become a bi-ennial undertaking. Conceived and designed by Lucia Jenkins, RN,
IBCLC, the project's objective is to link IBCLC's across the world in order to
facilitate the exchange of innovative practices, procedures and policies that
increase the initiation and duration rates of breastfeeding.

The link this year is with New Zealand, where IBCLC's and LLLleaders in 12
sites across the country (includes NICU's, PPartum Units, L&D's, clinics,
birth centers, priv. practice, LLL groups, and outreach programs) have graciously
offered to open their doors, share information and discuss innovative
practices.
Information will be gathered through shadowing, brainstorming, and
observation; then recorded onto collection data sheets and compiled for presentation
to health professionals and peers back in the US.

MLCA is hoping that if this proves to be a success, more exchanges will
happen around the globe in the future!
