I certainly understand your frustration. You are right, they just don't get
it. I find, since I talk about pumps a zillion times a month, the following
dialogue works well: "Using a hand pump to express and maintain your milk
supply is like using your sneaker to bang in a 9" spike. You REALLY do need
to use the appropriate tool for the job at hand." They usually get it. And
the old tried and true, "Most hand pumps are made by manufacturers of
formula, do you think they want you to have a successful pumping
experience?"
