If the nipple shield is working, I don't see anything wrong with using it.
IT maybe that the baby needs the shield to reach the high palate. I had a
baby recently like this, only he didn't have a coordinated suck swallow at
all. Ended up putting him on a Haberman bottle because he wouldn't suck and
getting mom pumping. It only took about a week for baby to wean from
Haberman to nipple shield and now, at 3 weeks he is exclusively on the
breast. Tincture of time works if mom keeps up her supply.
