Hilary, I wrote up a policy on lung scans at the hospital I work. You can write me personally and I can review this with you.
With just had a mom who had a cat scan yesterday. In the product insert the recommendation is to pump and dump at least 24 hours but remember this is based on liability not science. This particular agent was iodixident (?sp) which is not in Hale but very similar to other dyes used for ct scans (see page 860 in 2004 Hale). I did talk to Tom and he described to me why these dyes are safe with breastfeeding but I will not do justice to his pharmokinitic explanation. In general these dyes all have very short half life, used on the neonate, and very poor bioavailability. He told me the same as you; have the mother wait 4 hours post test before resuming breastfeeding or pump and dump the next feeding after the test.
