I agree with Kate ... if there is no other message that they take away, let
them take away that breastfeeding *matters*. Maybe when they are pregnant
they will remember that somewhere they heard that it really mattered that
they breastfeed... some will say that's good enough for them, and others
will want to know more then.

I'd also pop in something about how breastfeeding helps you to fall in love
with your baby ... and your baby to fall in love with you ... particularly
if you do the skin-to-skin thing immediately after birthing. That will
have to be handled carefully, so you don't get all the 'icky, gross'
comments. Love isn't an automatic given just because you're a mother - and
we've got a lot of very unhappy children to prove that point .. some of
your students for sure. So talking about how parenting isn't easy, but
they all know that when you love someone you'll do anything for them, that
it is then really important that you totally love your baby ... and this is
the easiest way to get that chemistry going.

My experience just talking with my son and his friends (early 20s) is that
they just don't have any idea and are very open to someone telling them, I
hope you'll find it an exciting session.

Good luck.
