As an aside to this issue, iron deficiency anemia will commonly suppress
appetite, which makes the situation worse, especially in this child.
Treating the anemia may result in improved appetite (as well as just
generally feeling better).
I'd also note that if mom is iron replete, only massive doses will
overcome the intestinal absorption resistance, and make marginal
difference in breastmilk iron.
