Dear Friends:
This is the most amazing case history........so many mother's have this
fear, and it happened for this mother. Her nipple fell off. I will never tell
any client of mine or pregnant woman this story!!
I worked with a mother once that had no nipples. Her nipples were so
inverted that they looked like holes in the centers of each areola. Milk poured
out of her; she leaked 2-4 ounces each feeding. She 'breastfed' two babies
for over a year each, using the base of a plastic Davol nipple shield with a
bottle teat on top of it.
The LC/caring physician and the mother can problem solve together. I am
sure they improvise something, using all the aides and devices that are
currently available.
warmly,
