Sadder yet was the unofficial report that up to 200 babies may have died of
malnourishment in this case. The 'official' report was about 13, but my
husband lived in that area and remembers that official reports were often
far, far under than the actual numbers.
However, he also noted that punishment there is swift and there are is no
appeal process, so the guilty will certainly receive swift, firm
punishment. I don't know if there is any punishment severe enough for this
crime, but it will be handled swiftly.
Yes, very, very sad. I understand there was a similar case in England,
recently, with 2 deaths linked to formula. (sorry, I have no citation for
this, I just heard on BBC radio)
