Dear Lacnetters,
I have a client that is scheduled in January to have amalgam fillings
removed. She is exclusively nursing a 3 month old baby. I received a
reply from Dr. Hale but wanted to share the information with others in
case they come across this.
Her doctor and her dentist told her she would have to stop
breast-feeding. My thoughts were that those fillings were there during
her pregnancy and for the three months that she has been nursing, why is
this now a problem? I did some research and sent an e-mail to Dr. Hale
and he referenced his web-site for the info. She does not have to stop
breast-feeding and she does not have to pump and dump through the
procedure. I sent her copies of all the information I could find so that
she could enlighten her providers. I thank God everyday that there are
resources such as you and Dr. Hale. Bless you!
Terri Klein, RN, CLE, CLC, mom of three very healthy grown breastfed
boys.
