Jodine,
Snowbrand Milk Products of Japan technically owns the patent on human
lactoferrin (the real thing and genetically engineered) to inactive hiv/aids. Since
I had read in 2002 that they had merged with Nestle of Japan, I have always
called it a Nestle of Japan patent. After cruising the web, I am not sure the
merger happened and it was just a business alliance. Hard to keep up with
mergers and acquistions in the corporate world. But Snow Brand is the original
patent holder of human lactoferrin (the real thing) and its genetically
engineered counterpart. I had assumed that Nestle held the patent, if they had
merged. But who knows now? Looks like snow Brand is going to market their
lactoferrin, whatever it be. They were involved in the infant formula and baby food
market. Guess we will be seeing some interesting marketing techniques.
