To my knowlege, latex shields are no longer made, except for the old 
fashioned (read: really lousy) ones with a teat so tiny that no woman 
I've ever seen could get herself into it!  How about mom tries the 
silicone shield, and if this does not work, she can try transitioning 
the baby to a silicone nipple similar in shape to the one she's using.
