I have personally been on a very restrictive diet for the last 4.5
years, because of allergic kids. I find that I a definitely in the
minority. However, many, many moms I've worked with find that their
babies are much happier and sleep better if they go without dairy
products. If they catch it quickly, they can just cut down; if it's
been a few weeks, they need total elimination.
I think that besides the fact that cow's milk is very allergenic, lots
of "easy to grab and eat with a babe in arms" foods are loaded with
dairy: string cheese, yogurt, smoothies, ice cream. It seems to me that
moms are sometimes overdosing on dairy, and that sets the baby off.
Moderation is key for some women.
