At our hmo we teach a two hour fifteen minute prenatal breastfeeding class.
This is not nearly enough time! We're toying with the idea of also offering
a postpartum bf class which would include such topics as pumping, bfing the
"older" baby, and weaning. This would give us more time to cover what is
important for mom to know in the early days. Frankly, I don't think it's
that appropriate to talk about pumping and weaning before moms have even
delivered. However, this is what folks want to know about.
Are there lactneters out there who are teaching a postpartum bf clas?. How
successful has that been? What is turnout like? At what point pp is it
appropriate to take it?
TIA,
Julie Brill, CCE, who's always looking for new ideas
