"Kim Scott IBCLC" <[log in to unmask]>
# after expression, her cream layer stays clumpy and will not remix
with the rest of the milk at all and she is left with clumps or lumps
floating in what she describes as almost clear watery milk. This was
freshly expressed milk within 2 hours of pumping. #
About two years ago on the Finnish bf support mailing list there was a
mother who described almost the same situation, except that her ebm
became lumpy within one day. Her milk wouldn't remix either, but the
clumps stayed.
This came up when someone mentioned that fresh ebm can be kept in a
fridgerator for up to 8 days, and she responded it isn't true in her
case anyway.
What she did was to freeze the ebm immediately after pumping.
