Ginger, I don't know Dr Freed, but here is a more recent reference by Dr
Schanler and a letter I wrote to the ABP.

George Lister, MD,
Chair American Board of Pediatrics,
Dallas, TX

Dear Dr Lister,

As you are aware many pediatric program directors chose their learning material
to reflect that which is on the Board exam. Therefore, it would be prudent for
the board exam to reflect learning material that pediatricians need.
I was disappointed to hear that there were few if any questions on this past
years exam on breastfeeding management. Please see the following reference.

PEDIATRICS Vol. 103 No. 3 March 1999, p. e35

Pediatricians' Practices and Attitudes Regarding Breastfeeding Promotion
Richard J. Schanler*, Karen G. O'Connor, and Ruth A. Lawrence

Conclusion. Pediatricians have significant educational needs in the area of
breastfeeding management.

I could suggest a long list of pediatricians who are qualified to write
questions regarding breastfeeding management. These would include members of
the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine; see www.bfmed.org , members of the AAP
Section on Breastfeeding;
http://aap.org/moc/memberships/getexecComm.cfm?cmte=238&groupid=Breastfeeding.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,
