One of the aims I have in the bf class is to challenge ideas that
you need to do/not do special things when breastfeeding, and I am
always keen to tell them the dietary restrictions they are following
when pg no longer apply - and that whatever they eat, their babies
will be just fine on their breastmilk.
Some people find this hard to believe - usually the fathers. One
father said last night, 'but what about the E numbers* in junk food
- surely they go through to the baby?'
I don't have a short reply to that question, and I probably waffled.
Common sense and my reading tells me that someone living on junk
isn't going to harm their bf baby with E numbers - but what would be
a quick and easy way of explaining this in class?

* not sure if this is a universal term. We use it as a term for
artificial additive in foods (on labels, all these are designated
with a number begininng with E).
