As a mom who had this happen in her first baby, and headed it off
quickly in the second, I'll piggyback on Nikki's thoughts.
BTW, I think the white potatoes would be suspect.

My guess is that some moms, like me, who were never breastfed, have very
leaky guts. And while I never had allergies, my dh does, so they get
the allergies from him, and the allergens from me.
This mom really needs to drop to a four foods diet. Whatever meat,
grain, fruit and veggie she *rarely* eats--in her severe case, maybe
things she never ate while pregnant. Millet, turkey or lamb, greens or
zucchini, pears usually works. No spices, no vitamin pills. Three
weeks. The upside is that her preg weight will fall off :P
She can make her life easier by roasting a turkey, cooking the millet in
the drippings, cooking a big pot of greens or baking zucchini in the
same pan as the turkey, stocking up on canned pears. This way all she
has to do is go to the fridge and pull it out.
My best to her. It is hard, but it gets easier. Once the gut heals up,
avoiding the major allergens may be enough. Things get much more normal
for me at a year postpartum.
