Dear wise ones,

I'm busy writing a mini-review of the literature on the physiological
stability of cup-feeding. I have just reviewed the paper by Howard et al
1999 (Pediatrics 104(5) p1204) where it shows that there is no difference
between bottle and cup feeding in regard to Oxygen sats, HR & RR - but well
a difference with breast (HR, oxygen sats). Unfortunately there is no
mention of the method of cup-feeding - I mean did the nurses "pour" or just
allow sipping (crude, but I think you know what I mean!). This might have a
bearing on interpretation of the cardioresp. results between the groups.
Does anyone have any more insights into this study, the method of
cup-feeding is not mentioned???????

yours
