Listmoms, et al:

I am all for whatever makes it safe for us to post, talk and share
information without hurting other people. Why someone would feel it
important and ethical to send someone's post without permission is beyond
me. The fact that the someone was hurt by this is completely unacceptable.
My questions to the party who did this would be - what was that your point
and why did you think this would be OK? Would you want someone to hurt you
in this way? Sadly, what is done is done - and there may be no way to
rectify this particular mess - I feel deeply sorry for the person this
affected.

The fact that we have been watched by other companies over the years and now
NBC (?) is just silly to me. I never got that. If you want information -
Participate! Ask us questions - we'll give you answers! Don;t hide and
spy...The fact that we (apparently now) have to "watch our backs" is just
stupid (I am being REALLY nice with my wording here - I am MAD). We are all
supposed to be professionals here. Professionals are supposed to have
ethics and common sense. Whatever happened to "Do unto others as you would
have others do unto you"? What happened to being able to share information
and opinions about products and situations, share our frustrations, etc??

I remember on the early days of Lactnet I posted my whole darn story of why
I am a lactation consultant. I asked a TON of questions, made people nuts
with that I am sure, and I made a lot of comments about things that I had
feelings about but not neccessarily education. Not everyone agreed with my
opinions and I didn't agree with everyone else's opinions - BUT WE WERE
NICE! I learned a tremendous amount in those days, and I continue to learn
from Lactnet as do others.

Now, here we are today - 3000 + members strong and increasing everyone's
education daily. What a benefit we are to the world of Lactation and to
those who are just entering our field. It is wonderful that this list is
here for anyone who is a Lactation Professional or who works with BF moms in
some way, all over the whole darn world. We are such an amazing benefit.

If we have to close this list to protect ourselves, so be it - but, keeping
it open and public is so much more helpful to the world at large - and the
archives are an invaluable resource. However, if I have to keep my mouth
shut just to protect myself from losing a prime spot on a national TV show
where I can help millions of viewers in some way because someone else
doesn't like what I have to say - then why am I here?
