Annette,
When my 15-year old son tried to object to my wearing an "Ask me about
breastfeeding" button to Parents' Night at the high school, I informed him
that my JOB is talking about breastfeeding, and that my paycheck is
supporting HIS swim team dues, new wrestling shoes, and CDs. The
breastfeeding-theme bumper stickers on my car quickly put a definite crimp
in his interest in borrowing my car.
If your daughter's friends weren't snickering about your license plate,
they'd be giggling over some other "stupid" thing you do / say / read /
listen to. That's the nature of 15-year-old girls.
Stand your ground. BF support work is your PROFESSION. If your daughter
really wants to drive, she should be thrilled that would LET her drive
anything with 4 wheels. If she doesn't like the license plate on your car,
she doesn't have to drive it. "Darling, this license plate has to be on the
car because it's MY CAR."
