I have a question that I would like some guidance on. I am trying to put
together a pamphlet on the feeding options available to a mother and due to
the fact that there are several mothers here who wet nurse their neices and
nephews and friends children. I felt it was appropriate to contain a
section on safe practices related to wet nursing.
I have the state side guidelines for contraindications for breastfeeding
but has any thing been developed as contraindications to wet nursing? I
would imagine they would be different as the baby has not had the inutero
passive immunities. What are other peoples oppinions and guidance that they
give mothers?

This is the definition I am drafted as a very rough draft. Please comment
on what you think (I am developing very thick skin, so please have at it).

Non-Diseased Milk from another mother- When the mother is unable to
provide breastmilk herself but decides to give milk from another mother who
is free from contagious diseases such as HIV or AIDS, HTLV-1, TB, CMV, and
when the donated milk mother is not taking antimetabolite medication, or
therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals, or takes drugs of abuse.
