Both qualitative and quantitive cultures (like a urine culture) are done with
human milk. Human milk is NOT sterile. It contains all the normal skin
flora we all have. It is cionsidered safe if it has < 10,000 col/ml of skin flora
(gram pos:staph epi, corynebacteria, etc.) and no enteric bacteria (gram neg
rods).
This is such old information I don't have a reference handy, sorry.
