My presentations went marvelously. Thanks for all your ideas! I
started with telling them how many people said I needed to let them know
that bf was not just nice, it was necessary. Segue to how many babies
die annually from not being breastfed, and why. Then answered a ton of
questions.
Closed by reminding them that they had dregs in their formula sample
cups, but that the label said to throw it out; over the course of the
hour it had been quietly incubating enough bacteria to be potentially
fatal to a compromised or premature infant, and to seriously sicken a
previously healthy baby. That *really* hit home.
We didn't make it through all the questions submitted beforehand, so I
will type up answers with links and email them. A couple dozen kids
came up and got my card.
We covered so many topics. The freshman class mostly listened, but the
older class was very interactive. I have been "hired" to guest lecture
next semester during the Maternal and Infant Health unit of the Global
Public Health class. I love this "job" :)
