Hi, Karleen and other Austtralian Lactnetters.
I didn't look at the ad on the link, but please e-mail the company and
congratulate them (if it's good) Recently called the Anti cancer/women's
health diary people. One of their tips in the 2005 diary was (I'm
paraphrasing) "If you are breastfeeding, give your baby a bottle once a
week. This will give you time to yourself and the baby will wean more
easily" The person I spoke to seemed to genuinely have no idea there was a
problem with this (she was a bf mother) when I asked her what reaearch she
had to support this statement there was stunned silence then "everyone does
it" We had a long conversation. She mentioned that they had had a TV ad
showing a still photo of a mother breastfeeding, and had not one positive
phone call or e-mail, but the phone had rung off the hook with complaints
about the ad. she said most of the calls were from women. Comments were
along the lines of "It makes women seem like cows" makes women feel guilty,
"children might be watching"
So maybe some positive reinforcement for good behaviour would be good
