I posed the origional question to the THC issue. Just wanting some
information on other's experiences in this matter. It is the policy in our
dept. at this time to with hold breastmilk to an infant if mom and baby
test positive for THC. Mom's milk supply is supported with pumping until
she is negative. This has come down from the child protective services
offices and shows no inclination of change at this time.
I just wonder sometimes how many people come thru that are not tested and
are positive for all sorts of drugs/diseases? I recently heard a report
of the World's AIDS conference (on NPR) that 90% of HIV positive people
don't know they are positive. Something to think about.
Respectfully,
Suzanne Bowes RN, IBCLC
