Interesting article from the Des Moines Register. I find it hard to believe
that EVERY waitress at the offending restaurant was truly siding with the
manager. One can't help but wonder if their "counter-protest" was entirely
their idea or "required" to keep their jobs!
Good news is that when I just looked at the article and voted in the poll,
91.6% do NOT agree with the manager's opinion.
Incidentally, the situation was mentioned at one of the plenary sessions at
ILCA by Dr. Ted Greiner.
I wonder how much long term positive response is obtained in the general
public, however, by such "nurse-ins". Yes, it does show some public
support, but it also gives the "nurse in the bathroom" contingency more
opportunity to air their views. I wish the ad that was shown at a recent
ILCA conference could get wide-spread airing. I'm talking about the one
with an executive-looking male was struggling to eat his lunch while sitting
in a toilet stall! Not only was it hilarious, but made the point very well
that nursing a baby is an "eating" function, not an "elimination" function!
