Good morning. I am not sure about some of the information your client
mentioned, ie the mercury causing thrush, and I wouldn't be sure about
that...without more information... But one thing I have seen often with my
clients is thrush that does not abate unless Diflucan is used until the
client is pain free for one week. It is fungistatic, not fungicidal...and
therefore can take time. The baby must be trated at the same time... To
avoid reinfection, and the proper course of Diflucan is needed, ie longer
than one might think, sometimes. I often see clients who have infections of
candida who also have the blanching/Raynaud's...as well. I do not know the
connection, but when the pain and infection are under control, things do
seem to calm down.
Hope she gets better soon. I'd look at Jack Newman MD's pieces on Candida,
and Raynaud's, at Cindy's website, www.breastfeedingonline.com.
Good luck. Kathleen
