Dear Friends:
There are health practitioners that are ignorant of some common newborn
manifestations. How many of us on LACTNET have encountered healthcare
professionals diagnosing normal breastfed stool as 'diarrhea'? (Goes to show you
that some folks don't know their s**t!)
Many are also ignorant of the normal breastbuds that babies often
develop in the first week of life, as the maternal hormones clear. I knew a mother
whose baby was given an MRI for this, as the physician thought the bilateral
symmetrical breast lumps were symptoms of some tumor!
