This is called Sheehan's Syndrome and yes, it can cause a very diminished
milk supply that really cannot be increased. The situation is that the
hemorrhage caused a "pituitary infarct" that affects the hormonal secretion that
drives breast milk production. I"ve only worked with about five women with this
in 16 years of being an LC and three of the cases were in a large metro Chicago
hospital.
