OK, I listened and I found this minute-for-kids to be patronizing and
idiotic....
I sure would like to know which study supports this information....
Babies who fall asleep suckling at the breast learn to fall asleep eating and
will NEVER go to sleep any other way????
But don't worry, half of all thumb suckers quit before their first
birthday????
PPLLEEAASSEE......
I personally know (not counting clients I have counseled) over 25 breastfed
babies who did manage to fall asleep without nursing, even if they were
routinely nursed to sleep ... and 5 thumb suckers, none of whom quit sucking their
thumb before their 5th birthday... 3 of whom later had braces, and two of whom
are still sucking that thumb as preadolescents.
So, my sample of 5 thumb-suckers is not very large, and may not be
statistically significant, but out of 25 breastfed babies, surely my own acquaintances
have disproved his first statement???
Hmmmmm,
Seen any good breastfeeding features on CBS lately?
