About 5 years ago the first mom I personally knew who used domperidone which
she obtained from another country where it was over-the-counter, was a lawyer.
She called the FDA and was told that domperidone as well as many drugs that
are not available here are LEGAL to import into our country so long as it is
imported for personal use and is not imported in large quanities or for resell.

This news release doesn't tell us anything about domperidone risk that Dr.
Hale's book isn't telling us. No new study or reports outside of those Hale has
already warned about. The FDA warning states: "There have been several
published reports and case studies of cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, and
sudden death in patients receiving an intravenous form of domperidone that has been
withdrawn from marketing in a number of countries. In several countries where
the oral form of domperidone continues to be marketed, labels for the product
contain specific warnings against use of domperidone by breastfeeding women
and note that the drug is excreted in breast milk that could expose a
breastfeeding infant to unknown risks." OK we already knew this and no one uses the
intravenous domperidone. And, if this was such a huge risk would oral
domperidone be over-the-counter in England, France, Italy and other countries. Do you
think these countries are fools and don't know what they are doing? Are we
gullibly enough to think that only the US FDA is the authority on drugs?

I smell a rat. And, it smells like a formula company. We are at war with
big business. The formula companies and all the pharmaceutical companies don't
want the US to have higher breastfeeding rates, it's not good for their bottom
line. Imagine the reduced antibiotic use on infants under one year if we had
Sweden's breastfeeding rate. Sweden has the highest breastfeeding rate and
the lowest infant mortility. We are 27th in infant mortility! What does that
say about our wonderful health care system and our country. Where are our
priorities? Making money is number one, not health care and certainly not babies.

A man posted to ABC regarding the 20/20 Friday night and he said, "we are
suspose to elect officials to represent the public and the best interest of the
public, not of big business." Lobbying for special interest or big business
should be unconstitutional. I'm beginning to feel like I'm living in a communist
country instead of a democratic republic. I'm feeling like moving to Canada.
 Enough is enough.
