The pediatrician is referring the baby over to a cardiologist, and
hasn't made any recommendation about the baby's diet.
I can't find anything about infant cholesterol levels. The American
Heart Association has this table for toddlers and up:
Cholesterol levels in children and adolescents 2–19 years old
Total cholesterol (mg/dL)
Acceptable — less than 170
Borderline — 170–199
High — 200 or greater
LDL cholesterol (mg/dL)
Acceptable — less than 110
Borderline — 110–129
High — 130 or greater
But Pat is right that a baby is at a different stage of development, one
where cholesterol is crucial.
