I have heard the concern about nursing a boy or nursing him too long
when they mom (or whoever is making the statement) thinks of
breastfeeding as a sexual act or at least too much like a sexual
act. One doc stated that since breastfeeding involved putting one
body part into a warm orifice in another body and delivering a
fluid, it was the same as sex! Whether it is stated this blatently
or not, I think this feeling is often there at least on an
unconscious level. I have heard people express concern that nursing
a boy "too long" could lead to homosexuality! Wonder how they
justify that with the fact that there seems to be an increasing
number of homosexuals (or at least acknowledged ones) in the
generation with the least breastfeeding.

I will address the subject of reasons given for not brestfeeding, but
the circumcision one is definitely off topic!

It will make my breasts too big.
It will make my breasts too small.
My breasts are too big to breastfeed.
My breasts are too small to breastfeed.
It just doesn't seem natural.!
It seems too earthy (natural).
I won't make enough milk.
I'll make too much milk.
I can't get pregnant again soon enough.
I will get pregnant too soon since I can't be on the pill.

Get the drift? No matter what reason a mom gives, chances are that
another mom will give the exact opposite as her reason!

Winnie
