I wanted to second Michelle's observation that late frenectomy costs
more than early frenotomy. My 17 yo was tongue tied, and as a result,
he needed:
7 years of speech therapy
a tonsilectomy and frenuloplasty to help his sleep apnea
maxillary expansion and orthodontia ($4300 alone) to expand his palatal
arch, make room for his teeth, and fully resolve his sleep apnea.
None of his 7 speech therapists ever realized he was tongue tied. I
finally realized it when I was helping moms with tongue tied newborns
whose tongues looked just like his had, and whose nipples looked like
mine did in the early days of bf him!
