What I intend to do (after DD delivers), is write a nice letter to her via
the education department or maternal child health, as the case may be, and
compliment the good parts, while correcting the bad parts. I think what is
really hard is when you have people teaching classes (or teaching on the units,
or in private practice, or WIC -- or whereever) that simply don't keep up, and
don't change their teachings. Change is difficult -- and keeping up can be
hard. I know I learn more on Lactnet than just about anyplace else.

When I teach our Lactation Consultant Prep Course or our Cram Course, I
encourage everyone to sign on to Lactnet -- I tell them to watch for the "wise
women" that post, and PAY ATTENTION. I tell them that there is no place in the
world that they are going to get such a plethora of wonderful
information/education FOR FREE!! Imagine!! Obviously joining ILCA and reading the JHL as
well as attending conferences are important, but for a day to day *shot* of
breastfeeding/lactation information, there is no place like Lactnet. And
that is why, along with everything else I intend to say, I will encourage anyone
who teaches bf classes or works w/ bf moms to at least lurk, if nothing
else. People occasionally complain that there is too much to wade
through....but....BUT....think of all the dirt & sand that is sifted when you are panning
for gold. And that's what we are looking for here.....

Not to mention what we have is a worldwide community of FRIENDS. And that
is NOT to be underestimated!!

(Once again, bras off and hugs to our list moms, especially Kathleen Bruce
who is the GRAND Listmother).
