Dear Lactnetters
I have a 22 week pregnant woman with the above condition. It is quite a severe case and has increased in its presentation significantly since she became pregnant.
She presents with pigmented skin lesions over her body and nodules, or tumor-like growths also covering her body. These growths appear to be cutaneous and present as pedunculated lesions - generally not tender/painful.
There are multiple lesions on both her areola causing her anxiety about breastfeeding.

One of the larger growths is adjacent to her nipple and is around a quarter inch wide x half inch long. This lesion is very tender. She has had them diathermied off in the past but they usually return - often bigger than before.
Given that they are more active during her pregnancy I felt it is probably best to leave alone - but I wondered whether anyone has seen this condition and how the baby managed with suckling? If it were just affecting one areola - or if there were only one or two lesions one would assume breastfeeding would not necessarily be a problem.
Can anyone offer advise?
Regards
