Let me add my condolances to all affected by this money first
cutback! I would really like to see affected moms write angry
latters. These go a lot further than anything professionals may
say. It is really a case where "the customer is always right". If
they get enought letters saying things like:
"I had heard so many good things about your breastfeeding support
and help and was appaled to find that there was no such thing
available when I had my baby recently."
"Where is the help I got when I had my first baby. Breastfeeding
help was so great then, but now it sems the overworked and
undereducated nurses are all there is."

I fear this is a growing trend with the increase of big conglomerate
hospital organizations. The community hospital is being
ovedrtaken. For those of you who are Star Trek fans, they are the
very image of the Borg! (A semi automaton species who went about
the universe "assimilating" every living thing into their super
species.) I have seen such a large conglomerate fight to get one of
"their" hospitals into every corner of the region, even when there
is already excellent local coverage. And it's done in the name of
"competition lowers prices" and "free enterprise" as if running a
hospital is comparable to running a local restaurant!

Winnie
